This artwork was inspired by a book we read at school many years ago!
It was called The Owl Service, by Alan Garner, a low fantasy story (a term the author Philip Pullman used to describe it) about some children staying at a large house within a remote valley in Wales. They get caught up in an ancient Welsh legend about a man called Lleu and his wizard uncle, who, for various reasons, create a beautiful woman out of flowers and name her Blodeuwedd. Sadly for her, she falls in love with another man, and, in retribution, Lleu and his uncle transform her into an owl.
